Obituary for Norman Cecil Booth

Norman Cecil Booth, born April 9, 1954 and left us too soon as he passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022. Norm was the loving husband, and best friend and dance partner of Erna. During their 22 years they were fortunate enough to establish a wonderful circle of friends to add to their family. Norm enjoyed dancing, golfing, music trivia and vacations. Norm was a father to Juanita, Susie and Jason (Breanne) and stepfather to Tina. Greatest Papa to Lexis, Dakota, Loralei, Kayden, Oliver, Hannah and Jorja. Survived by his sister Perri. Predeceased by his parents Victor and Ellen Booth.

Norm found his passion early in life and that was being a firefighter. In 2022 Norm had the privilege of having 50 years in the fire service working for both the County of Brant and the City of Brantford as a firefighter and training officer. Training was the thing Norm loved to do and even during his final week he managed to spend time with the latest recruit class. Norm was involved with the Brantford Firefighters Executive as well as the Ontario Association of Fire Training Officers and enjoyed bringing his knowledge to the recruits. Norm started his career as a recruit with the Scotland Fire Department, then was accepted as a firefighter with the City of Brantford and went on to become the Chief Training Officer. Upon his retirement from the City of Brantford he returned to the County of Brant, Mt. Pleasant Station as a firefighter and continued with training for the County of Brant. He had a huge impact with all those he met in the fire service and was always available whenever someone reached out to him. In keeping with the passionate man he was, his final gift of giving was the gift of sight to someone who needed it. We are blessed knowing he will still see the world through his recipient.

Norm’s wishes were to have his service at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, as he appreciated the way Keith conducted his parent’s funerals. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday April 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, as this was where the best part of his life had been. In lieu of flowers donations in Norm’s memory may be made to a fire department to assist with awareness programs, the BGH D Wing or to Princess Margaret Hospital.
