With courage against her battle with cancer and her family beside her at the Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford on Wednesday January 11, 2017. Cheryl (nee Hanson), of Norwich, in her 70th year. Survived by her loving husband Robert Fyfe for 46 years, son Ian (Denise) and daughter Danielle (Chris Kershaw). Loving grandmother of Mackenzie, Richard & Hayden Fyfe and Kyle & Ryan Kershaw. They will miss her bedtime stories of Africa. Dear sister of Joyce (Roy) Smith, brother-in-law John MacLeod and sister-in-law Miriam Hanson. Leaving also best friends Gail Mumford along with Ruth, Marlene, Jackie and John.

Cheryl was a respected nurse working for 37 years at the Emergency ward at BGH. Her career spanned 41 years. She was an active member at KTV Church in Kelvin, valued member of Trillium Button Club and U & I Club.

Cheryl enjoyed passionately her love of Africa, travelling there 14 times on camping safaris and volunteering. She had many exhilarating stories to tell of rafting on the Zambezi River and encounters with wild animals. She volunteered as a photographer and worked in Lion Camp in South Africa. The other area she volunteered was St. Bartholomews Orphanage in Southern Sudan & Gulu (northern Uganda) when it was still a war zone along with volunteering in hospitals in Kampala & Mbarara, Uganda initiating one of the first nursing triage systems. Cheryl will be greatly missed.

Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Friday January 20, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the KTV Church, 910 Burford-Delhi Townline Road, Kelvin on Saturday January 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Cheryl’s memory may be made to the Comboni Missionaries, Kitchener.
